An article is a piece of writing that has been published in a newspaper, magazine, journal or web resource. Most periodical publications release content on a regular basis, and this content is generally indexed in a searchable database. 

For example, a database like Art & Architecture Source indexes journal publications such as American Artist and Photography & Culture, where you can locate full text articles such as:

  • Williams, Austin R. 2012. “Explorations in Gouache & Ink.” American Artist: Watercolor 18 (72): 58–63.
  • Coleman, Kevin, and Daniel James. 2020. “Capitalism and the Limits of Photography.” Photography & Culture 13 (2): 149–56. 

The list of databases available through SCAD Libraries (linked below) can be limited based on subject area. You can select a database relevant to your field of study to find articles from a variety of journals and magazines by searching keywords related to your topic. See the handout linked below for more information
